Portland got really puppet-y last weekend. Toby Froud’s film premiered at the Hollywood Theatre and Melvin the Birder had the honor of screening in the previews. We even got a shout in Portland Monthly Magazine! Go Puppet Power!

Hello Puppeteers and Lovers of,
Submissions are now being accepted for Portland’s very first Tiny Puppet Theatre Festival. We are searching far and wide for puppet shows that are small in stature and ready to perform this coming August right here in Portland, OR. We are taking over the Good Gallery on Mississippi every weekend from August 8th - August 31st. Shows should be anywhere from 8 - 15 minutes in length. Some travel funding is available and lodging can be provided.
Deadline : May 15th, 2014.
Good Luck, friends!
This is funny. And puppety.
The featured artist for THE PUPPET SLAM THIS WEEKEND is Liz Hara. Liz is a NY-based puppet builder, wrangler, and performer. She currently works for Sesame Street, and has also worked on the Broadway productions of The Lion King, Avenue Q, Shrek, and Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.
An alumni of the O’Neill Puppetry Conference, she has performed her own work at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the New Orleans Fringe, and the Puppeteers of America National Festival. She loves dirty jokes and dancing, and her most important achievement to date is having eaten all 100 of Buzzfeed’s “100 Candies to Try Before You Die.”
Liz will be performing BOTH nights, two different shows. Tickets are selling fast, be sure to buy in advance!
We turned away dozens of puppet enthusiasts last time. Don’t let this happen to you, buy those tickets! Don’t think, just do. Puppet Power.
A cool opportunity to perform in the mid-west. Check it out, puppeteers! Deadline is April 1st, so don’t delay.

Oh what fun! PUPPETS!
There is something about using the familiar template of children’s television and turning it on its head that makes us all here at HQ rub our hands together and laugh. Laugh and laugh. Just be sure to watch until the very end. Enjoy!
Here is some of the work being done by puppet folk down in Los Angeles. Very inspiring set design!
